Raising Brothers.

Questioning everything.

Honest stories about autism, special education, motherhood, family life, and all the messy stuff in between.

Hi Friend!

I’m so glad you’re here, where we talk about life – the beautiful, the messy, and everything in between – from motherhood and navigating the special education system, to the small, ordinary moments that shape us.

I’m Susan — a wife, mom of two very different boys, reluctant expert in special education paperwork, and chronic question-asker.

The Nickel Jar is where I write honestly about raising brothers, parenting an autistic child, navigating schools and therapies, and trying to hold onto the funny, tender, completely ordinary moments along the way.

There are no perfect parenting tips here. Just real stories, hard-earned lessons, and the occasional nickel worth keeping.

A few nickels for your inbox…

New stories, honest conversations, and the occasional thing I probably should have kept as an inside thought.

No daily emails. No parenting perfection. Just a note when there’s something worth sharing.
